JEFFERSON – Robert Wayne Melton, 63, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014.
Mr. Melton retired at the rank of Major after 22 years with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. He also retired after 10 years with the GA P.O.S.T.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Cheryl Melton; children, Wendy and Jason McDaniel, Waleska, Jennifer Hinton, Dalton, Robert and Kristy Kennedy, Dacula, Jay and Dana Melton, Rockmart, Kyle and Laura Melton, Monroe, and Cassie and Shane Dalton, Jefferson; mother and step- father, Mary Ann and John Wigley, Powder Springs; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Kathy Melton, Braswell Mountain; sister and brother-in-law, Kitty and Charles Phillips; 12 grandchildren, plus one on the way; one great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Wanda and John Cummins, Dacula; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 7, in the chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home, Lawrenceville, with the Rev. Larry Brooks and Ryan Powell officiating. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memory Garden in Snellville. The family will receive friends Friday, June 6, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, , Lawrenceville.
