JEFFERSON – Arthur Ray Martin, 66, formerly of Buford, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2012.
Born on March 28, 1946 in Buford, he was the son of Ruby Lee Westbrooks Martin of Buford and the late Rev. Huelon E. Martin. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Franklin Martin. Mr. Martin was a 1964 graduate of North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee. He was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force for eight years and was a victim of Agent Orange during the Vietnam era. He was a retired superintendent for Hamby Construction Company in Lawrenceville for 32 years. He was a member and usher of Old Suwanee Baptist Church in Buford.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife of 46 years, Dianne Moore Martin, Jefferson; children, John and Karen Martin, Lexington, Ky., Denise Martin Pattavina, Athens, Chuck Martin, Gainesville, and Elizabeth and Josh Ewing, Cumming; 11 grandchildren, Amber Martin, Arthur Martin, Amelia Martin, Taylor Martin, Henry Pattavina, Madison Martin, Anna Martin, Hannah Ewing, Adam Pattavina, Joseph Ewing and Olivia Ewing; brothers and sisters-in-law, Emory and Lucy Martin, Morganton, Vick and Carol Martin, Suwanee, and Ricky Martin, Buford; sisters and brother-in-law, Mabel Martin Herrington, Buford, Martha and Rev. Harry Brogdon, Sugar Hill, and Teresa Martin Shepherd, Dacula; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
Funeral service will be held Friday, August 17, at 3:30 p.m. at Old Suwanee Baptist Church in Buford with the Revs. Tim Campbell and Doyle Jackson officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Old Suwanee Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, August 16, from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Serving as pallbearers are Vick Martin, Michael Pass, Stephen Moore, Stanley Ewing, David Moore and Pete Pattavina. Honorary pallbearers are Emory Martin, Harry Brogdon and Ron Moore. The ushers of Old Suwanee Baptist Church will serve as Honorary Escort.
