DANIELSVILLE – Melvin Jackson Roberts, 76, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at his residence.

Melvin was born in Comer on June 3, 1938, the son of the late Andrew Roberts and Beulah Bell Horne Roberts. He was a former restaurant owner and more recently was a self-employed contractor. Melvin was a member of Meadow Baptist Church in Comer and was a United States Navy Veteran. Melvin was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Roberts; brothers, Frazier Roberts and Daner Roberts; and a sister, Barbara Roberts Sanders.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Kirk Roberts, Danielsville; children, Stoney Roberts, Alpharetta, Marty Roberts, Elberton, Jerry Roberts Burlington, N.C., Terry Roberts, Elberton, Brent Roberts, Carnesville, Jeremy Rich, Valdosta, and April Turner, Danielsville; 21 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Dale Roberts, Colbert, Tommy Roberts, Colbert, and Earl Roberts, Comer; and his beloved pets, Mickey and Minnie.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 20, at the Danielsville Evangelical Church with the Rev. Tim Peek officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 12 noon on Friday. Interment will follow in the Danielsville Evangelical Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Pruitt Funeral Home from 6 until 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 19. The family is at the home.
