HOPKINSVILLE, KENTUCKY – William Henry Wingfield, Jr. went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, July 1, 2014, following an extended illness.
William was born June 4, 1949 in Winder, the son of the late William Henry Wingfield, Sr. and Ina Griffeth Wingfield. He was a Deacon at Tabernacle Baptist Church and was retired from the United States Army. He was a Security Force Lieutenant at Tristar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. for 14 years after retiring from the Army.
Survivors include his wife, Arnita Wingfield; three children and spouses, William Lamar (Contrena) Wingfield, Sr., Bethlehem, , Marcus (Jennifer) Wingfield, Winder, and Anthony Wingfield, Winder: step-daughter Charmane Burks, Columbia, S.C.; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six siblings, Martha (Henry) Slayton, Catherine Simmons, Dorothy (Howard) Teasley, Barbara Smith, all of Winder, Teresa Dotson, Statham, Donna Candis, Bethlehem; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and man’s best friend, Hank Wingfield.
Viewing will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, at Eberhart and Son Mortuary, 131 King St., Winder. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 11, at 9 a.m. at Appalachee Shoals Missionary Baptist Church, 553 Tanners Bridge Cir., Bethlehem. Interment will be at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Veterans Cemetery Rd., Canton, GA 30114.
