COMMERCE – Charlie Littleton Smallwood, 81, passed away at his residence early Tuesday, August 21, following an extended illness.
Born in Commerce, he was the son of the late James Daniel and Minnie Burns Smallwood and was married to Maria White Smallwood of the residence. Mr. Smallwood was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in the Korean conflict.
Survivors include a son, Terry Dean Smallwood, Nicholson; a grandson, Terry Chase Smallwood, Jefferson; and brother, J.D. “Bill” Smallwood, Greenville, S.C.
Special recognition of thanks is also extended to special friends Richard Brake and Bradley of Commerce who have been so helpful to the family during the time of Charlie’s illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, August 23, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with Tully Westmoreland officiating. Interment will follow in the Grey Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 22, from 6 to 8 p.m.
