CORNELIA – Wilma Inez Kelley, 93, formerly of Martin, Georgia, passed away on Thursday September 25, 2014, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Kelley was born on August 18, 1921, in Pearson, Georgia, the daughter of the late Joe Oscar and Inez James Murray. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edd P. Kelley; brother, Joe Wilbur Murray; sisters, Ruth Almond, Vernelle Wall, and Elizabeth Murray. Due to the death of her mother at an early age, she was raised by her devoted and loving grandparents, the late William and Syrena Murray.
Mrs. Kelley was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Martin, Georgia, where she served for many years in the Sunday School nursery. She was a member of the Line’s Women’s Club of Martin. In addition to being a devoted Christian homemaker, she worked for many years at Stone Manufacturing and retired from Singer Manufacturing Company.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Judy Kelley, Cornelia; grandson and wife, Jonathan and Kelly Kelley, great-grandchildren, India Claire and Kingston Payne Kelley; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, O’Neal and Sue Kelley, Canon; one niece; and a number of nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 28, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, with the Rev Bill Stacey and Dr. Tom Mewborn officiating. Interment was in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements were in the care of Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest.
