HARTWELL – James S. “Jimmy” Adams Sr., 89, died Sunday, October 12, 2014, at his residence.
Born on September 19, 1925, in Danielsville, he was the son of the late Clarence Ernest Adams and Ola Stephens Adams. He graduated from Southern Tech as an industrial engineer. Mr. Adams was a self-employed consultant for a textile industry, a member of the Reed Creek Baptist Church, and a former member of the Hartwell Rotary Club. He was a United States Army World War II veteran serving in Germany in the 82nd Airborne Division. Mr. Adams was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Montelle Cherry Adams; three sons, Steve Adams and his wife Janet, Chattanooga, Tenn., Eric Adams and his wife Sheryl, Katy, Texas, and Kurt Adams and his wife Susan, Versailles, Ky.; five grandchildren; two brothers, Ed Adams and his wife Marion, Sparta, N.C., Marvin Adams and his wife Paula, Gibson, Ga.; and one sister, Catherine Lombardo, Damascus, Md.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 18, at 11 a.m. at the Reed Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Sam Delaney officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 19, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Reed Creek Baptist Church prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Reed Creek Baptist Church, 116 Boleman Hill Rd., Hartwell, GA 30643.
