WINDER – Floyd Newman Bennett, 81, entered into rest Thursday, October 16, 2014.
Mr. Bennett was born in Gainesville, the son of the late William Lonnie and Ethel LeMaster Bennett. He was retired from Siemens Energy and Automation, and was a member of Walnut Fork Baptist Church in Hoschton, where he was an ordained deacon and choir director. Mr. Bennett loved people, music, had a heavenly voice, and enjoyed working on genealogy. He was preceded in death by four sisters; and five brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Patricia Stanley Bennett, Winder; daughter, P. Diane Frederick and her husband Frank, Hoschton; son, F. Richard Bennett and his wife Frankie, Bay Springs, Miss.; daughter, Catherine Bennett, Pensacola, Fla.; sister, Callie Bennett Pullen, Boston, Ga.; brother, Benny Bennett, Gainesville; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one soon to be great-grandchild; and many nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 21, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Andy Atkinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Walnut Fork Baptist Church Cemetery in Hoschton. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday, October 21, from 2 to 3 p.m., at Evans Funeral Home.
