ATHENS – Viola Spratlin Dillard, 93, peacefully went home to live eternally with her Lord and Savior in Heaven on Monday, October 27, 2014.
Born in Hull, she was the daughter of the late Walter J. and Hattie Davis Spratlin and was the wife of almost 70 years to the late James H. Dillard. She was preceded in death by siblings, Florence S. Hardy, Thomas, Harry, Weldon, Sherwood and Viron Spratlin. She was an active member of Hull Baptist Church and retired from the University of Georgia Bookstore.
Survivors include daughters, Barbara D. Easterwood, Athens, Brenda D. (David) Owens, Hull; sister, Florrie S. Hughes, Birmingham, Ala.; grandchildren, Amy Murray Long and Jason Murray; great-grandchildren, Joanna, Spencer and Trevor Murray and Brandon Long.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 29, at 11 a.m. at Hull Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Crowe officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home Tuesday, October 28.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hull Baptist Church Building or Bus Fund.
