LULA – Dan B. Griffin, 77, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 1, 2014, at his residence following a period of declining health.
Born in Lula on January 24, 1937, Dan was the son of the late Cary and Evelyn Garrison Griffin. He was employed as an engineer for many years with the Georgia Department of Transportation. Mr. Griffin was a member of the Antioch Holiness Church in Lula, where he served as a former deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. Most of all, Dan enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his great-grandchildren and family vacations to the beach.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Thelma Hill Griffin; son and daughter-in-law, Carroll and Kim Griffin; grandchildren, Ashley and Eric Brown, Megan and Jonathan Corn, and Cary Griffin; great-grandchildren, Blake Brown and Daisy Brown; brothers and sister-in-law, Lamb Griffin, Dwight and Karen Griffin; sister and brother-in-law, Hilda and Billy Mealor; all of Lula; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, beloved in-laws, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4, at the Antioch Holiness Church in Lula with Pastor Jacob Armour and the Rev. Marty Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with the Rev. Larry Dyer officiating at the graveside. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, November 3, 2014 from 6 until 9 p.m.
