BALDWIN – Rubie Wilbanks Gailey, 97 passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Gailey was born in Baldwin on November 17, 1917, the daughter of the late Gill T. and Samantha Payne Wilbanks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelton Gailey; son, Thomas Gailey; grandson, Michael Gailey; four sisters; and five brothers. She was a member of Leatherwood Baptist Church and was active in AARP. She was a homemaker and loved to garden. She also loved to travel and has traveled to every state in the USA and many foreign countries. Mrs. Gailey was well known for her Christmas light display that she had yearly at her home.
Survivors include a daughter, Jackie Gailey; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Jean Gailey; daughter-in-law, Pauline Gailey; and sister Elsie Mae Andrews, all of Baldwin; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, December 22, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with the Revs. James Morgan, Kenneth McEntire, and William Nation officiating. Entombment will be at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.
