TOCCOA – Murnette Robinson Baird, 86, passed away Monday, February 23, 2015, at Landmark Hospital in Athens.

Born July 15, 1928 in Edwardsville, Ala., she was the daughter of the late W. Frank and Hattie Bannister Robinson. She was the widow of Rev. Jabel Robert “J.R.” Baird Jr.

Mrs. Baird was a homemaker and a resident of the Tates Creek Community. She loved her family, grandchildren, her Bible, puzzles, marbles, being a minister’s wife, and serving the Lord. She was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God.

Family members include sons and daughters-in-law, Robin and Trudy Baird, Toccoa, Mark and Diane Baird, Lexington, and John and Tonya Baird, Toccoa; daughter-in-law, Ramona Baird, Toccoa; brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Faye Robinson, Alabama; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert “Donnie” Baird; brothers, Hubert Robinson and David Robinson; and sisters, Myrtice Hughes, Reba Cheatwood, and Jean Woodard.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 27, at Glad Tidings Assembly of God with the Revs. Charles Reese and Austin Ivester officiating. Burial will follow at Roselane Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 26. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Robin Baird, Mark Baird, John Baird, Marcus Baird, Matthew Newsome, Jimmy Ford, Bill Smith, and Joey Powell. Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Robinson, Marvin Chancey, and Merl Jordan.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.

Whitlock Mortuary, Toccoa, is in charge of the arrangements.
