Rachel L. Kincaid Fortson, 89, passed away peacefully at Spring Valley Nursing Home on Monday, June 29, 2015, with her husband by her side.
Rachel was born in Colbert, to daughter of the late Robert and Anna Loftis Kincaid. She and her husband Edd Fortson of 72 years lived in Danburg, Ga., near Clark Hill Lake area. She was a very sweet and amazing mom, grand-mom, and great-grand mom. She was a beauty shop operator for a number of years, housewife, enjoyed making dolls, and did a lot of sewing over the years for the family. She enjoyed cooking and made the best cornbread and pecan pies around.
Survivors include her husband, Dallas Edward Fortson; son, Robert (Freida) Fortson; daughter, Pat (Roy) Nunnally; grandchildren, Rodney (Tracey) Rogers, Rene’ (Tod) Wilson, and Justin (Amanda) Fortson; great-grandchildren, Mallory, Noah and Kendall Rogers and Will and Charlie Fortson; and several nieces and nephew.
A graveside service was held Tuesday, July 1, at Colbert Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.
