COMMERCE – Annie Ruth Anthony, 91, died Monday, November 25, 2013,at Northridge Health and Rehab Center.
She was born in Commerce, the daughter of the late Tillman and Bessie Garrison Bagwell. She was a member of Nicholson Congregational Holiness Church and was a homemaker. Mrs. Anthony was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Howington; second husband, Roger Anthony; children, Wanda Giddens and Kathy Hill; brothers and sisters, Homer “Tootsie” Bagwell, Joe Bagwell, Tillman “Bud” Bagwell, Mary Embrick, Nancy Standridge, Sarah Autry and Frances Worley; and a number of half brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her children, Frances Barnett and Vaughn Howington, Sr. ,both of Commerce, Julie Cooper, Maysville, Jimmy Anthony, Commerce, and Debbie Benton, Danielsville; grandchildren raised in the home, Michelle Bowen, Nicholson, Cindy Parr, Jefferson, and Christi Anthony, Columbus; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of half brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m., Wednesday, November 27, at the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Kesler officiating. Interment will follow at Cabin Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from noon to 3 p.m. prior to the service.
