COLBERT – Brenda Jo Dixon Escoe passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014, at her residence in Colbert.
She was born in Clarke County, the daughter of the late Melvin and Mildred Dixon. Her grandparents were Noah and Gladys Loyd, and A.L. Sr. and Hattie Dixon.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Jim Escoe, Sr., Colbert; daughters, Kim Gregory, Madeira Beach, Fla., and Kay Escoe, Colbert; and a son, Jim Escoe, Jr. (Rowdy) and his wife Shaune, Colbert; four grandsons, Adam Dees and his wife Chelsea, Park City, Utah, Zach Escoe and Spencer Escoe, both of Colbert, and Sam Gregory, Land O’Lakes, Fla.
In 2012, her beloved great-grandson, Conrad, was born to Adam and Chelsea, and she had the joy of a visit from them last April.
Brenda loved her family, and enjoyed growing beautiful flowers and reading. She also had a wonderfully kind heart for pets, and if a dog or cat needing a good home found their way to her, they would be loved and cared for. Her cat Sheila was a constant companion during the last days of her life.
Funeral services were held at Lord & Stephens chapel Wednesday, January 15, followed by burial at Colbert City Cemetery. The Rev. Jack Segars conducted the service. Pallbearers were Danny Dixon, David Dixon, Phillip Dixon, Anthony Dixon, Ray Nunn, and Jackson Loyd.
