JEFFERSON – Nathan E. “Eugene” Whitfield, 91, passed Monday, December 15, 2014.
Mr. Whitfield was born in Lexington, the son of the late Hines Berry Whitfield and Willie Mae Stephens Whitfield. Mr. Whitfield was retired as maintenance manager with Baker and Taylor, a member of the Galilee Christian Church, and was a former Jefferson City Council member. Mr. Whitfield served his country in the United States Navy with 20 years of service, was past president of the VFW, a member of the American Legion, and a former member of the Jefferson Rotary and Jefferson Lions Club. Mr. Whitfield was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Lyle Whitfield; sister, Elizabeth Thomas; and brothers, George Whitfield and Hines Berry Whitfield Sr.
Survivors include sons and their wives, Ronnie and Linda Whitfield, Dawsonville, Ray and Rhonda Whitfield, Winterville, Jeff and Cindy Whitfield, Jefferson, and Tim and Belinda Whitfield, Macon; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 20, at 11 a.m. in the Galilee Christian Church with Minister Tom Plank officiating. The burial will follow in the Woodbine Cemetery in Jefferson. The visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
