COMMERCE – Myrtice S. Buffington, 73, died Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Northridge Medical Center.

Mrs. Buffington worked for Dairy Queen in Gainesville for 30 years. She was a member of the Salvation Army and was of the Christian denomination. Mrs. Buffington was preceded in death by her husband, William Franklin (Buddy) Huffington.

Survivors include her dog of 14 years, Snoopy.

Graveside service will be held Monday, June 13, at 2 p.m., from Grey Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Bethe Kellum officiating with the interment following at Grey Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 12 to 1:30 p.m.

Patricia Anna Wilson Franklin, 73, of 411 Browning Ave, and widow of Calvin Edward Franklin, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016, at the Hospice House of Laurens County.

She was born in Banks County, the daughter of James Lewis Wilson of Baldwin and the late Flonnie Blackburn. Mrs. Franklin was retired from textiles and was of the Baptist denomination. She enjoyed cooking for everyone and was a huge fan of QVC.

Survivors in addition to her father, include her children, David Mealor (Rita), Homer, Regina Poole (Dale), Seneca, S.C., Cindy McCall (Roy), Marci Trotter (Kenn), and Amber Franklin, all of Laurens, S.C.; her companion, Mac Mealor; brother and sisters, Lynda Garrison (Pete), Keith Wilson (Donna) and Sharon Underwood (Donnie), all of Homer, and Wanda Dale (Terry), Gillsville; grandchildren, Isaiah Mealor (Ashley), Breanna Poole, Jamie Franklin, and Jordan McCall; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 13, at 2 p.m., in the Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Clinton. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Laurens County, P.O. Box 178, Clinton, SC 29325.

The family will be at the home of her daughter, Cindy McCall (Roy), 146 Bobcat Drive, Laurens, SC 29360.

COMMERCE – Sarah Helen Craig, 82, died Sunday, June 19, 2016, at her residence, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Mrs. Craig was born in Clarkesville, the daughter of the late George Fred Allen and Lillie Mae Sosebee Allen. She was a member of Brockton Road Baptist Church and was a retired textile worker from Harmony Grove Mills and Mt. Vernon Mills. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Paul Edgar Craig, Commerce; daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and John Murray, Commerce; grandchildren, Taylor Jones Oren (Chris), Vandalia, Ohio, and Torie Jones, Danielsville; great-granddaughter, Adaline Mae Oren; brother, William Ralph Allen (Jessie), Commerce; many nieces and nephews; and several grand-nieces and nephews. She was blessed to have two special ladies in her life; Miss Nizzie Barrett and Geraldine Adams, both of Commerce; and an honorary daughter, Sheila Bolton, Commerce.

Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, at the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Revs. Dugar Strickland, Jerry Ledford, and John Wood officiating. Interment will follow in Jackson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

MAYSVILLE – Barbara Ann Snipes, 76, passed away Friday, June 17, 2016, at her residence.

Mrs. Snipes was born September 18, 1939, in Duluth, the daughter of the late J.C. and Lois Haynes Martin. She worked at Blue Bell and attended Redeemed Baptist Church. Mrs. Snipes was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Snipes; sons, Randy and Ricky Snipes; brothers, Junior, Paul, and Bobbie Martin; and a sister, Linda Parson.

Survivors include son and daughter in law, Ronny and Vickie Snipes, Commerce; sister, Martha Ginn, South Carolina; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; with special great-granddaughter, Taylor Ann Nicole Tuck.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, at the Ivie Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jeryle Roach and. Phil Parks officiating. Burial will follow in Grey Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, June 20, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

Born in Barberton, Ohio on February 28, 1927, she had lived in Barrow County for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Carl and Maggie Scroggs Bramlett. Mrs. Carter was preceded in death on December 27, 2010, by her husband, Albert Carter; a sister, Geneva Martin; and brother, Rev. Gene Bramlett. Mrs. Carter was a longtime active member of Bethabra Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie and Martha Carter; Granddaughters, Dr. Emily (Jeremy) Hutton, and Amanda (Russ) Johnston; great-grandchildren, Audrey Hutton, Emma Cate Hutton, and Luke Johnston; sister, Annette Benifield; brother, W. A. Bramlett, Sr.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

BETHLEHEM – Walter Perry, 91, died Thursday, July 28, 2016.

A native of Barrow County, Mr. Perry was the son of the late Ernest Stephens and Ruth Irene Sims Perry. Mr. Perry was a member of Winder First Presbyterian Church for over 65 years. In early years, he farmed and then later retired from the Georgia Department of Agriculture. Mr. Perry was preceded in death by his wives, Shadie McCord Perry and Jane Guthrie Perry; and siblings, Ernest Arch Perry and Naomi Perry Stambaugh.

Survivors include a sister, Emma Ola Michael of Bogart.; special friend, Peggy Haley, Winder; children, Ernest (Kathleen) Perry, Watkinsville,. and Emily Jane (John) Cortese, Cary, N.C.; six grandchildren, John Walter (Pamela) Cortese, David Allen (Noemi) Cortese, Anthony Robert (Elisabeth) Cortese, Stephen Robert Perry, Patrick Thomas Perry, and Anna Marie Perry (Zachary) Burrell; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 30, at 2 p.m., in the Smith Memory Chapel with the Rev. Brock Burnett officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Hall was born in Jefferson, the son of the late P.P. Hall and Pauline Craig Hall Jenkins Hall. He was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Oakwood and was retired from Life of Georgia Insurance Company after a long career in the Insurance Industry. Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Joyce Whitehead Hall.

Survivors include three daughters, Charlotte D. Hall, Gainesville, Cindy Hall, Pendergrass, and Celeste D. Tatum and her husband Charlie, Oakwood; one son, Chris D. Hall and his wife Gail, Flowery Branch; one sister, Frances McGinnis, Jefferson; 15 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 31, from the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Brown officiating with burial to follow in Woodbine Cemetery. Gentlemen honored as pallbearers will be Bryan Tolbert, Michael Jones, David Hall, Brandon Gowder, Corey Mangum, and Jerry Passmore.
